Curriculum

DISCOVERY I & II- AGES THREE TO FOUR

Discovery class is designed to present dance in a fun, developmentally appropriate setting. Concepts such as rhythm, shapes, colors, levels, emotions and opposites are explored through movement experiences that incorporate both fine and gross motor skills. The children are active participants where they are encouraged to use their imaginations and progress at their own pace. 

PRE-BALLET I, II & III- AGES FIVE TO SEVEN

Children in Pre-Ballet classes are introduced to ballet terminology and steps while continuing to enjoy creative opportunities in class.  Students experience their first time performing on stage.Students in Pre-Ballet III may take part in the Youth Ballet's production of the Mini-Nutcracker.

FOUNDATION - AGES EIGHT AND UP

Students build a strong understanding of the basics of ballet, a foundation that will set our students up for a positive and rewarding experience in ballet whether they pursue ballet for fun or in hopes of a professional career.  Students in Foundation can take part in the Youth Ballet's production of the Mini-Nutcracker.

BALLET A - C

Once a foundation has been formed, ballet students will build physical strength, muscle memorization and agility as they are introduced to more complex steps and combinations.  Students in Ballet A & B can participate in the Youth Ballet's production of the Mini-Nutcracker.  Students in Ballet C can audition for the Youth Ballet.  Depending on readiness, girls may begin pointe work in Ballet C.

BALLET D-E

The upper levels of D & E are used to improve techinique, advance pointe work, expose the students to other dance forms such as modern and jazz, and prepare them for a future in the ballet world if it is their desire.  Students in Ballet D & E can audition for the Youth Ballet.
